Charleston Village Wine Club

Looking for a way to meet new neighbors? Looking for adult only events in your neighborhood? Join the Charleston Village Wine Club!

Wine Club members meet once a month. Each month a different member hosts the party. As the host/hostess, you pick the theme for the party. As a guest, you bring a wine, according to the theme, along with an appetizer to complement. It's a fun way to meet new neighbors and enjoy great wines!

Some of our past party themes have been North Carolina, Argentina, and a German Octoberfest theme with Reisling wines and even some great German beer!

If you would like to become a member of the Wine Club, please e-mail Michelle Pierzga.

For November, the CV Wine Club theme was North Carolina and Virginia Wines. Thanks to Laura and Dan Linton, our hosts for the evening.

Our favorites of the evening were...
Whites: (unanimous) Biltmore Estates Chardonnay Sur Lies
Reds: (three-way tie) The Black Dog, Red Table Wine; Biltmore Estate Cardinal's Crest; and Laurel Gray, Scarlet Mountain

All wines were purchased at Harris Teeter or Food Lion with the exception of the Laurel Gray which can be mail ordered from the vineyard at www.laurelgray.com.

Our favorite appetizer was Marinated Cheese by Lori Moshinski which is published on page 4 of the 2007 Charleston Village Cookbook (Contact Laura Linton to purchase a copy and to support our Swim Team.). Marinated Cheese is a unique and exotic appetizer that everyone raved about! Think cheesecake and a wonderful chocolate sauce from Laurel Gray Vineyards!

Thanks to Ed and Michelle for hosting October's "HalloWine" party! It was a great success! Ed and Michelle did a great job at hosting and decorations. The theme was to find a wine with a Halloween label or name. It was also suggested to dress up yourself, or your bottle!

The favorites of the evening were...
Whites: Yadkin Valley Semi-Sweet White Wine Blue Moon White
Reds: Poizin, 2005 Binfandel, Sonoma County

This was our first October Wine party, and it turned out to be one of the best parties, yet!

Great Party!
See you in November!
Cheers!

For August, the CV Wine Club enjoyed a "Wild Nights" theme. Our mission was to find wine with an "animal" in the name or on the label. This was a fun, creative way to join some very good wines.

Our favorites of the evening were...
Whites: Wild Horse
Reds: Hahn

Thank you to Jorie and Billy for an awesome party!
