Do not carry extra credit cards.
Cancel all unused credit accounts.
Shred pre-approved credit offers before tossing them.
Check credit reports at least annually.
Do not carry your Social Security Card, passport, or birth certificate.
Do not print Social Security numbers on checks.
Pick up new check orders.
Mail bills from the post office instead of a personal mailbox.
Install a locked mailbox or rent a post office box for receiving mail.
Remove your name from the marketing lists at Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
Do not give out personal information on the telephone.
Memorize passwords.
